Another recent addition to my portfolio consists of a cash for gold site completed in early 2011. This company already has a website/catalog which displays their jewlery products but needed something more specific to the gold market. Although a website was built, this was a multi part project.

The first part involved a bit of database coding that involved developing a Perl script that would export a custom XML feed designed specifically for a seller site that would showcase their high end items. This proved challenging as their existing database and website was developed over 8 years ago and had been retro updated over the years.

First I had to explore the existing data and figure out how everything was put together. Then I soon realized that they already shared data with a collaborating site, but that system worked much differently than the latest addition.

The second portion of the project involved creating the website you see on the left. It involved creating a new logo for the company, developing and formatting graphics for the pages as well as developing the content. It consists of 3 main pages that describes the purpose of the company and allow end users to inquire about selling their jewlery with a slightly advanced form page.
